Goalie Development Opportunities
The Fredericton Youth Ringette Association (FYRA) is committed to supporting the growth and success of all our goalies — whether you’re just starting out or continuing to develop your skills at a higher level. Goalie development is an important part of our overall player development program, and we’re proud to offer several structured opportunities throughout the season.
We provide dedicated goalie coaches during our power skating sessions, ensuring that goalies receive focused instruction that complements the skating and movement fundamentals of their position. In addition, we offer specialized goalie development sessions that provide an opportunity for more targeted training in areas such as positioning, rebound control, puck tracking, and communication with defenders.
Goalies are grouped by skill level, allowing each participant to train at an appropriate pace with other goalies of similar experience. These sessions combine technical drills, game-situation simulations, and one-on-one coaching, giving each goalie the chance to work closely with our most experienced instructors.
Many of these ice times are shared with players, which helps goalies practice their techniques in real, game-like environments. The mix of structure, repetition, and live-action drills ensures that every goalie gains confidence and valuable in-game experience.
We strongly encourage all FYRA goalies to take advantage of these opportunities to improve their skills, build confidence, and have fun on the ice.
